EPD generated by Tool

To meet market demands for ensuring the continuity of verifications for EPDs generated by Tool and the requalification of instruments according to Regulation 7.1 by Verification/Validation Bodies (OdV), we are announcing several updates.

• Between 27/03/2026 and 01/07/2026, an OdV may still accept a request from an EPD Owner for the verification of an EPD generated by an LCA Tool compliant with EPDItaly Regulation version 6.0, but only if the OdV has also previously or simultaneously finalized a contract with the LCA TOOL owner for requalification to comply with EPDItaly Regulation version 7.1. This contract must include a commitment to submit all documentation required to start requalification activities to the OdV no later than 31-12-2026. The OdV’s activities for the requalification of the LCA TOOL will be planned and initiated based on the order in which such documentation is received.

• After 01/07/2026, it will still be possible for an OdV to accept a request from an EPD Owner for the verification of an EPD generated by an LCA Tool compliant with EPDItaly Regulation version 6.0, but only until the date of the communication regarding the start of the requalification process for the LCA Tool (compliant with EPDItaly Regulation version 7.1). This date will be indicated by the OdV following the finalization of the relative contract and the formal acceptance of the task.

It is specified that if, by 01/07/2026, the LCA owner has not contracted the OdV for the requalification of the LCA TOOL to EPDItaly Regulation ver. 7.1, or if they fail to subsequently provide the OdV with the documentation to start such activities by the deadline of 31/12/2026, the OdV will no longer be able to accept requests from an EPD Owner for the verification of an EPD generated by an LCA Tool compliant with EPDItaly Regulation version 6.0.
