Who chose EPDItaly tells its story: Tierre Group

Marialuisa Di Sacco, Quality System Manager Tierre Group

Tierre Group, based in Cormano (Milan), operates in the fittings sector for pneumatic automation, food & beverage, water treatment, fiber optics, and industrial instrumentation. Over time, the company has developed a comprehensive range that combines in-house production, specialized technical expertise, and solutions designed to customer specifications, operating in various application fields with high-performance products.

As part of a structured journey focused on sustainability and ESG themes, the Lombardy-based company decided to rely on EPDItaly to obtain Environmental Product Declarations for twenty codes belonging to the Tierre Fittings and NET.Fit families, while simultaneously certifying its own LCA Tool for calculating environmental impacts.

In this regard, we interviewed Marialuisa Di Sacco, Quality System Manager, who told us about the reasons behind this choice, the benefits gained from publishing verified environmental data, and the role of EPDItaly in a market increasingly attentive to transparency and sustainability.

What are the main reasons that pushed you toward voluntary EPD certification?

EPD certification is part of a path we have been following for years, which has already led us to obtain other system and product certifications. For Tierre Group, it represents a tool to provide a unified vision of the corporate strategy centered on sustainability and ESG themes, which we summarize today in the concept of GreenTech. For us, GreenTech means expressing the Tierre philosophy: developing innovative and versatile solutions, aiming for sustainable development without sacrificing economic efficiency and competitiveness.

Which of your company’s products have obtained the EPD? What are their main characteristics?

We have certified ten codes from the Tierre Fittings family and ten from the NET.Fit family. Tierre Fittings, produced at the Castegnato plant, include several lines: OTR for pneumatics and industrial automation, HFR for the food sector and coffee machines, LFRP for coffee and water vending, and XVR, intended for the food sector in particularly aggressive environments and critical operating conditions. The NET.Fit family, on the other hand, is dedicated to the world of fiber optics.

Furthermore, it was central for us to also certify the LCA Tool, so that we can accurately calculate the environmental impacts of other products and respond to an increasingly strong demand from the market.

What are the main advantages obtained from the publication of the Environmental Product Declaration? What are the effects on the final consumer?

Being the first company in the fittings sector to obtain EPDItaly certification was an important milestone that strengthens our credibility and confirms the path taken within GreenTech. Our customers are already very attentive to these themes, and we receive daily requests related to ESG aspects, a sign of a market that is increasingly sensitive to environmental transparency.

Do you think EPDItaly can contribute to spreading a culture of product sustainability?

Yes, without a doubt. It is a valid tool for knowledge and in-depth study of sustainability themes and can represent concrete support for companies approaching this path.

In your opinion, how important is the presence of sustainable Italian products within a Program Operator that makes its international network one of its strengths?

It is very important. In Italy, the theme of sustainability is evolving rapidly, and the market is moving more and more in this direction. The Italian industrial system is also progressively adapting to international ESG standards, in a context that requires ever greater alignment with global criteria.
