10 years of EPDItaly: a CO₂e-compensated event

EPDItaly has reached its tenth anniversary. This milestone was celebrated on 10 June 2025 in Rome with the event ‘The future belongs to sustainable products’, a day of discussion dedicated to the evolution of the programme, environmental transparency and the growing role of environmental product declarations. The conference, hosted at the Auditorium Via Rieti, was held with actively managed CO₂e emissions, in full compliance with the principles of sustainability that have inspired the programme since its inception. This commitment was accompanied by a careful assessment of the overall environmental impact of the initiative.

How was the climate impact of the event managed?
Based on the carbon footprint calculation, the event’s emissions, estimated at approximately 2.5 tonnes of CO₂e, were actively managed through support for the VCS-Verra certified forest conservation project “Cordillera Azul National Park REDD+ Project”, active in four departments of central Peru (San Martín, Ucayali, Huánuco and Loreto). The project participates in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) promoted by Verra and aims to conserve vast rainforests and mountain forests, actively contributing to the protection of biodiversity and the reduction of global emissions.

Event content
During the day, which included institutional presentations, technical insights and two thematic round tables, the strategic role of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in the context of ecological transition was discussed. Topics such as data verification, the digitisation of EPDs, expansion into non-construction sectors and integration with Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) were addressed.
