The company develops solutions for power distribution serving both domestic and international markets.
Based in Jesi, in the province of Ancona, IMESA carries out the main stages of design and manufacturing in-house, combining decades of industry experience with continuous investment in research, development and innovation.
As part of this commitment, the company chose EPDItaly to publish Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for four medium-voltage switchgear solutions: IMESA DY 698A, IMESA GSCM004, GSCM009 and MINIVER/C.
To learn more, we interviewed Luca Anibaldi, QHSE Manager, who shared the reasons behind the company’s decision, the benefits of publishing verified environmental data, and the role of EPDItaly in a market increasingly focused on transparency and sustainability.

What were the main reasons that led your company to pursue voluntary EPD certification?

The market in which we operate has certainly encouraged us to place greater emphasis on sustainability and product quality, but that was not the only reason.
At IMESA, we strongly believe in sustainability and in protecting our local area. Measuring the environmental impact of one of our products throughout its entire life cycle through an LCA provides both us and our stakeholders with a clear understanding of the company’s environmental footprint. For us, this represents a starting point for making informed decisions about the future.

Which of your products have obtained an EPD? What are their main features?

Our EPDs cover four medium-voltage solutions.
IMESA DY 698A Switchboard is a compact 24 kV air-insulated switchboard featuring vertically withdrawable vacuum circuit breakers and a 1,600 A bus-section panel.
IMESA GSCM004 Switchboard consists of ENEL-approved secondary medium-voltage substations designed and manufactured in accordance with the utility’s technical specifications. These solutions ensure high levels of safety, reliability and service continuity while providing easy installation, accessibility for operation and maintenance, and full compatibility with ENEL distribution networks.
GSCM009 (MA-140466) Switchboard is an air-insulated medium-voltage switchboard equipped with a withdrawable circuit breaker for HV/MV and MV/MV substations.
MINIVER/C (Compressor 2 3690-TR-202) Medium-voltage switchgear is a range of modular indoor switchgear units. These metal-enclosed, air-insulated units comply with LSC2B-PM classification and can be equipped with withdrawable vacuum circuit breakers.

What are the main benefits of publishing an Environmental Product Declaration? What advantages does it bring to the end user?

In my view, the main benefit is verified transparency: third-party certified data on the actual environmental impact of our products. This translates into greater commercial competitiveness and increased customer confidence.
Publishing EPDs is also fully aligned with the ESG strategy we are pursuing at IMESA. We have set ambitious targets for 2030, including achieving net-zero emissions.
For end users, the key advantage is the ability to compare equivalent products objectively. Since EPDs are based on shared Product Category Rules (PCRs), they provide a transparent and reliable basis for comparing products available on the market.

Do you believe EPDItaly can help spread the culture of product sustainability?

Yes, particularly among SMEs and manufacturing companies operating in the B2B sector, which often lack the resources to undertake a complex EPD process on their own.
Program Operators such as EPDItaly help make what is still a technically demanding process more accessible and easier to understand, especially in light of continuously evolving international regulatory requirements.

How important is it, in your opinion, to have Italian sustainable products represented within a Program Operator whose international network is one of its key strengths?

It is essential for two main reasons.
First, it gives international visibility to Italian manufacturing and to the entire supply chain, highlighting the credibility and reliability of our industrial sector.
Second, it helps build a strong network representing the Italian electromechanical industry, creating a recognised point of reference for manufacturers in the sector, both in Italy and abroad.

[15

post-100009870","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
["GET
